Come, friends, and listen to a cautionary tale. There was a married couple who thought they were money savvy. But, it turns out they were really, really delusional. After years of accumulating credit card debt, something had to give and this sad couple ended up doing the unthinkable… filing for bankruptcy. It was a humbling and humiliating experience for this middle-class, college- and grad school-educated dynamic duo who, at one time, thought they had it all figured out.

[eat] Easy Holiday Entertaining from a Martha Stewart Wannabe

I’m not going to lie – I love Martha Stewart. I faithfully read Martha Stewart Living, subscribe to the Everyday Food – Dinner Tonight daily recipe and have a copy of Martha’s Rules on my nightstand.
So it goes without saying that I attempt to inject my own little Martha-esque touches to every party I host. At a recent informal cocktail party at my home, I focused on simplicity – from the clean, white serving plates to the uncomplicated, but flavorful dishes. And, frankly, I think Martha would be proud.

Ah, apartment living.
I remember when I was little, my mom used to talk about living in an apartment in her 20s, and I always thought it sounded so fun and glamorous. Growing up watching Melrose Place only made me more determined that someday, I too would call one of these fabulous complexes home. (Hopefully though, one of my neighbors would not try to burn the place down like Kimberly from MP did. Oh, and remember when she pulled off her wig to reveal her giant scar?! But, I digress.)
