[eat] The Seafood Shop

Born and raised a Catholic girl, I spent most of my life scrunching my nose at the mention of seafood. And I don’t think it was closed-mindedness. Rather, I blame Lent. When Lenten “sacrifices” involved eating fish on Fridays, I naturally assumed fish was some type of punishment. When I think of Japanese grills, my mind instantly goes to that scene from The Office where Andy takes Michael to Benihana to cheer him up. Michael complains that nothing the chef is doing is making him feel better and Andy says, “Wait for the onion.” Whether it’s the onion volcano, the shrimp-catching contest, or the banter between the chef and the table, there are plenty of things at these grills to make a person happy, even before the food comes. Also like so many others, you might find it tricky to keep track of it all. I can’t blame you. It’s a lot of information to process, and the task can become overwhelming if, not so long ago, you were shopping quickly, cheaply, and conveniently.
Luckily there are countless resources available to make your kitchen quest an easy one. Shopping for …

[eat] Lunch with Liz: Sabor

Last week I told you all to go out and eat donuts for lunch. This week I’m back to actual food and am taking you to my favorite place to dine in Wichita – Sabor, located in Old Town Square.
Sabor has been a favorite of mine for over a year now. The atmosphere, food, and service are what keep me coming back for more. On this occasion, a good friend and I chose to dine fairly late on a weekend night. If you decide to make this your stop on …
