During this time every year, gym parking lots seem to be noticeably fuller. You can’t walk right on to the elliptical and you have to squeeze into your normally not-so-crowded Pilates class. Gym rats everywhere know exactly what I’m talking about; January, February, and March are the highest traffic times for commercial gyms. Some family traditions include a day of board games or venturing out to catch one of the flicks that premiere on Christmas Day. Not mine though. As much as I want to see Sherlock Holmes, it’ll have to wait, because I am a homebody who lives for the one day of the year when I can watch holiday movies and feel normal. Nestled at the crossroads of I-35 and I-70 is a little slice of heaven that I like to call my hometown. Salina, Kansas is where my family and beloved Dalmatian, Betsey Johnson, live. It’s also the place where I made every happy memory I can conjure up.
