[drink] Signature Drink: Finn’s

I guess I should start with a disclaimer. I’m a Finn’s guy. I’ve been going to Finn’s for the better part of a decade. I danced with and kissed my now-wife for the first time at Finn’s. I’ve celebrated and grieved at Finn’s. Greg, the head man, and Jason, his steadfast employee, are great bartenders and hosts and are counted among my friends. So the idea of going on a Thursday  to hang out and take a look at their signature drinks struck me as a fine way to kill …

[drink] What to Drink When You’re Not Drinking

I love to go out. Football on the TV and wings and nachos on the menu? I’m there. Karaoke on tap? I’ll be the first to bust a move. General rowdiness and shenanigans? Count me in.

[eat] La Garza’s

La Garza’s, 1611 S. Broadway, is a tiny Mexican place with a BBQ/smoker thing out front that sends off yummy scents of grilled critter into the neighborhood. I go there for lunch on a weekly basis and love the food.
A few things about this place. I am often the only non-Hispanic there, which I see as a plus. If you go to a place that serves Mexican, Asian, any sort of ethnic food and there are no people of that ethnicity in the place, you can pretty …

[eat] The Magic of the McRib

I’m a foodie – a ridiculous food snob. I’m the guy who looks down his nose at people who love the newest mega-chain restaurant, The guy at the table who, when asked how his meal is, will describe in great detail everything that could be improved. I’m the guy that friends call before trying a restaurant because I’ve probably been there and have an opinion that they respect. I love perfectly prepared, perfectly fresh, perfectly marvelous food.
However, I have a dark secret and I feel …

[eat] Great Burger Joints

Burgers are one of life’s great mysteries. How can something that comes off a grill at your local mega-chain burger joint share the same name as the epic tower of juicy meat and toppings that comes from the dear little greasy spoons that dot our city? Now, I understand that my little list may offend some of you. The howls of “How could he not include…?” fill my mind as I write this, but I hope that this will be an ongoing series – a quest for the …
