[nest] Container Gardening

I live on several acres, out of town, and I already have two garden patches going. Yet, I’m a BIG FAN of container gardening. Why? It allows me to keep kitchen herbs, well, in the kitchen. Also, some things are better in containers. Mint, for example, will take over your yard and can kill off other plants by stripping moisture out of the soil. Keeping it in a container is convenient and less of a hassle than trying to keep it confined to it’s own bed. Also, some plants work …

[listen] Wichita Jazz Festival

The Wichita Jazz Festival actually kicked off Wednesday, with a free concert hosted at Abode Home. Featuring four local jazz groups, it was a perfect beginning and showcased some of the best jazz talent that Wichita has to offer. The jazz festival started in 1972, and still continues to play an important role in the development of musical talent throughout this region.

[do] Scuba in Wichita (Yes, Really)

How did I get myself into this situation? I started out investigating this elusive scuba scene by interviewing a scuba instructor who is probably familiar to many: Dave Freeman, chief meteorologist for KSNW. He literally lit up …

[primp] Semplifi Hair Care Challenge

Hello, my name is Stephanie, and I’m a recovering hair product snob.
There, I said it. I’ve been hooked on high-end hair products since I was 17. Before that, my idea of splurging on “good” shampoo was to buy Pantene or Aussie at the supermarket instead of Suave. I’m not kidding; I went from Suave to Aveda on one sunny afternoon in a salon on Douglas, and I never went back.
Well, maybe that’s not entirely true. My income hasn’t always been able to match my appetite, so I’ve been willing to …
