[do] Show off Wichita on the Cheap

We’ve all been there. Friends or family come in from out of town and we scramble to clean our house and stock the fridge and keep our guests entertained. But the entertaining part doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive. In fact, there is a plethora of free or low cost things to do to show off the city of Wichita and have fun while you’re at it. Of course, you don’t have to be with out-of-town guests in order to take advantage of these opportunities.

Catch a matinee at the …

[eat] Zen Vegetarian Cuisine

There we were – one vegetarian, one flexitarian and one meat lover – ready to chow down at Zen Vegetarian Cuisine (3101 N. Rock Rd). Carly (the meat lover) felt a bit bamboozled. Somehow in the process of making lunch plans, Steph (the vegetarian) and I (the flexitarian – don’t judge) failed to mention that “Zen” was, erm, vegetarian.

What better time to give in to this love for the bubbly than New Year’s Eve? Of course, champagne doesn’t have to – and shouldn’t – …

[do] Guide to Surviving Christmas Alone

This is the first time in three years that I’m not spending Christmas alone. Look, there are lots of great things about having my entire family reside in California, but the insane cost of airfare during the holidays is not one of them. And while I love my family tremendously, I also enjoy visiting them during less crazy/stressful/expensive times of the year.
I doubt anyone is ever really jazzed to fly solo on Christmas, but it’s not ALL bad. You can avoid the inevitable “Why are you still single?” question (or …

[eat] Mix it Up Frozen Yogurt

I’ve been publicly pleading for a frozen yogurt spot to open up in Wichita for quite some time. I may have even looked into what it would cost to rent space in Delano and open one up myself. And then I got sidetracked and started verb [ICT] instead.
I kid. I kid. Kind of.
Frozen yogurt is part of every Californian’s diet. It’s an entire food group. We’ve Jamba Juiced and Starbucksed and scarfed bagels and eventually grown bored of the trends, but we never tire of our fro yo. There are …
