[eat] Lunch with Liz: The Beacon

I’m now on out my third stop in an attempt to eat my way through Tanya Tandoc’s favorite Wichita restaurants. This week: breakfast.
I’m a huge breakfast fan, but not a fan of eating it during the typical breakfast hours. So when a restaurant has a sign in their window that reads “breakfast anytime,” I know that’s my kind of place. The Beacon is just that place. It seems like Sundays are usually the day when my boyfriend and I decide we want a brunch-like meal. On our list of possibilities was …

[eat] Lunch With Liz: Saigon

Last week, I laid out my plan to eat my way through Wichita chef Tanya Tandoc’s personal favorite places to eat in town – my own version of Julie & Julia. I won’t be tressing any chickens, though. Just eating them, perhaps.
When a friend invited me to lunch with her at Saigon, I jumped at the chance, knowing that it was also on Tanya’s list of where to dine in Wichita. On the way, she prepped me by saying, “People don’t go there for the atmosphere. It’s all about the …

[eat] Lunch with Liz: College Hill Deli

Here’s the story: I love food. I’d even go so far as to say that eating is one of my hobbies, as sad as that sounds. I also enjoy trying new restaurants that I’ve never been to, and of course visiting (and re-visiting) my favorites. I have set out on a journey to take you with me as I venture to the new and the old.
Last week, my boyfriend and I visited the newly opened College Hill Deli & Catering (3407 E. Douglas). As soon as we walked in the …

[move] Get Sweaty at Siva Yoga

Let’s face it, it’s the 21st century and there are countless ways to work out. But how do you know what’s right for you? Some people choose the conventional route of going to the YMCA or to Genesis. Others choose to take their dog out for a run and kill two birds with one stone. I tried the conventional way and even gave Shocker Fitness a chance for about a month this past year. I never really found my niche until this summer.
A friend of mine told me about “sweaty …
