[eat] Lunch with Liz: Watermark Books & Cafe

Even though I took a short hiatus from trying to make my way around Tanya Tandoc’s favorite Wichita restaurants, I’m back on the horse again and decided for something light this week.
Watermark Books & Cafe, 4701 E. Douglas, is apparently a Wichita institution that I have never experienced to its full potential. Up until researching for this post, I had set foot in Watermark only once. I blame this on my boyfriend. We all have our “places” where we each love to go and feel that it’s our home away …

[eat] Lunch with Liz: Lawrence Edition

Last week I took you to a few places to dine while I was on a weekend vacation in Kansas City. This week I’m rounding out my vacation mode (or “Kansas Staycations” as I like to call them) by taking you to Lawrence, Kan.
Lawrence is just a three hour drive from Wichita and also home of the University of Kansas. Several of my friends still attend school there and I always look forward to visiting them while enjoying some food along the way.
For those of you that know Lawrence, you …

[eat] Lunch with Liz: KC Style

Whether it’s for business or a short vacation, Kansas City makes for a great destination. Why not eat some good food along the way? This week, Lunch with Liz covers the food adventures I experienced during a recent weekend trip.
I stayed just off the Plaza at a great hotel in Westport, The Q Hotel and Spa. For those of you going on business, I hear they usually have a good business rate during the week. What really directed me to this hotel was the breakfast. They offer custom omelets and …

[eat] Lunch with Liz: The Beacon

I’m now on out my third stop in an attempt to eat my way through Tanya Tandoc’s favorite Wichita restaurants. This week: breakfast.
I’m a huge breakfast fan, but not a fan of eating it during the typical breakfast hours. So when a restaurant has a sign in their window that reads “breakfast anytime,” I know that’s my kind of place. The Beacon is just that place. It seems like Sundays are usually the day when my boyfriend and I decide we want a brunch-like meal. On our list of possibilities was …

[eat] Lunch With Liz: Saigon

Last week, I laid out my plan to eat my way through Wichita chef Tanya Tandoc’s personal favorite places to eat in town – my own version of Julie & Julia. I won’t be tressing any chickens, though. Just eating them, perhaps.
When a friend invited me to lunch with her at Saigon, I jumped at the chance, knowing that it was also on Tanya’s list of where to dine in Wichita. On the way, she prepped me by saying, “People don’t go there for the atmosphere. It’s all about the …
