[eat] Mike’s Wine Dive: The Food

Score another point for great places to go in College Hill. Thanks to my fabulous friend Nicole, I went on a gastronomical adventure for lunch at Mike’s Wine Dive. Located at Douglas and Oliver, it has a simple charm that is woven throughout the look of the restaurant, the lunch and dinner menu, and, of course, the wine menu.
Because I went for lunch I was not able to partake in any wine but I did not leave disappointed – the food was downright delicious. My lunch buddies …

[think] Idiot’s Guide to March Madness

People wearing festive colors with big smiles on their faces, making a list and checking it twice. You think I’m talking about Christmas? Au contraire, mon frère, I am talking about something better than Christmas – March Madness! Sorry, Andy Williams, but you are going to have to make room for Andy Katz because THIS is truly the most wonderful time of the year. Soups, salads with papaya, and curry …

[do] Stay In On Valentine’s Day

Picture it: you are sitting at a tiny table surrounded by lots of other tiny tables with tiny candles and tiny vases with fake carnations in them. Couples holding hands, drinking white zinfandel and whispering sweet nothings to each other from across the table abound. You my friend, have entered the dreaded Valentine’s Day celebration zone.
Going out for Valentine’s Day can be so overrated. There is so much pressure to have a super-fantastic romantic time that you end up eating an overpriced, subpar meal and having an argument about why …

[go] Main Street in McPherson

Whenever I end up in a small town, the first place I want to go is Main Street. Every town has one and some have more life than others. McPherson, Kansas, has a Main Street that will keep you busy, full and entertained for an entire day.
To make sure you have enough energy to complete your Main Street McPherson journey, you must get a good breakfast. Neighbors Café is the place to be. With cinnamon rolls the size of your head and homestyle breakfast offerings, you will …
