Ever been at a local show and thought to yourself, “Isn’t that guy in another band?” He probably is.
There is an abundance of musical talent in Wichita – so much so that for some, it can’t be contained to only a solo act or one band. I asked several local musicians how and why they do it. Interviewed below are:

I’m fairly new to digital photography –  I received my first digital camera in 2007. Only after shooting in “auto” or various “scene” modes for a while did I decide to actually read the manual, learn what ISO, shutter speed and aperture meant and go “manual.” Knowing what the terms mean and actually putting that knowledge into some kind of artsy beautiful action is whole other monster though. Espresso Theatre is a free open mic night with a thespian twist. It’s held at Mead’s on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m with Dana Ellison serving as the “Mistress of Ceremonies.”

The blues takes me back to my childhood – my dad playing guitar with his friends on Saturday afternoons, the air filled with laughter, amps and classic blues lyrics. I was there in the middle of it all, blowing out my young eardrums, loving every minute of it.

If 120 Minutes still aired on MTV I believe we’d see a J.A.N.E.T. video there. Alas “music television” is a bit of a misnomer for the channel now, but fortunately there are a variety of bands that play original music right here in Wichita.
