[win] Invent a Drink for Cocktails and Cookies!

29 January 2010 by verb [ICT] staff 3 Comments

green cocktailCalling all mixologists! The Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland are in search of a signature drink to serve at Cocktails and Cookies, a fundraiser to be held March 4 at the Wichita Hyatt.

Win yourself a ticket (a $75 value) by inventing an adult beverage that would pair well with a Girl Scout cookie-based dessert. Think Caramel deLites, Lemonades, Peanut Butter Patties, or the ever-popular Thin Mints.

The drink will be served alongside cookie-based desserts made by notable local chefs. Your only rule: The beverage must be green in color.

You can leave your recipe in the comments or, if you’d rather your trade secrets not be revealed to the world, e-mail it to editors@verbICT.com. verb [ICT] editors and the Cocktails and Cookies event committee will pick a few finalists, do some “judging” (read: taste-testing!), and reveal the winner on Feb. 12.

The deadline to enter is Friday, Feb. 5.

Good luck, and don’t forget to call up the Girl Scouts you know – cookie sales are happening now!

Contest Rules: All participants must be 21 years of age or older, unless otherwise stated and/or posted. The winner will be chosen after a selection process led by the Cocktails and Cookies event committee. The winner will be notified at the email address given when posting a comment/emailing the editors. Only one entry per person. Open to Wichita metro area residents only.

    Ingredients:

    0.5oz Blue Curacao
    1.5 oz Gin
    3oz Orange Juice
^amounts are approximate, and are really up to how you like it, or how bright, or not bright you want the color

    1) Start off by adding however much ice you like in your drinks, or if you don’t like ice with orange juice, refrigerate your OJ, and throw the alcohol in the freezer.

    2) Pour the Gin and Curacao into your glass.

    3) Add orange juice until you get a good green color. Bright green is good, but some times it turns out a darker green.

    Optional- Garnish with orange wedge.

    Equal Parts:

    Midori (or melon liqueur)
    Malibu Rum
    Pineapple Juice

Add equal parts and shake in an ice filled shaker – strain into cocktail glass and serve! This drink literally tastes like VACATION. And right before Spring Break in early March, that will be on the minds of many! This drink is a very bright grassy green – it doesn’t need a garnish, just a pretty glass to serve it up!

Dang it! I’m late! But here we go anyway:

    1 oz. Creme de Menthe
    1 oz. Kahlua
    1/2 cup Ice Cream
    Blend
Serve with chocolate syrup and crushed Thin Mints
