This is my side of town too! It is fun to see many people sharing places they have been or remember.
Carly i am so down for bowling league… i have to practice though its been about 11 years lol. That is where i spent every Monday night doing homework, watching dad’s league bowl and bowling some of my own frames…

Don’t forget Ming’s Restaurant. They’ve been on South Seneca forever, great food. I love Marchello’s as well and Julius’s BBQ.

Thanks to the commenter who mentioned the Village! Anytime I need a pick-me-up, I can just go to the Village and look at the people trying to peddle their VHS tapes and Loony Toons t-shirts. I love that place.

I’ve never gone to that pond but drive by it every day. I’m thinking in May you and I should just show up. They won’t shoot two of us, will they?

Also, love the Cinderella carriage at Watson. Have some great pictures of me and some friends in high school when we posed on it.

Glad to see the south side getting some love. Anyone else remember walking the Yellow Brick Road in Watson? Good times. And there’s the Rocket Ship and Cinderella’s Carriage on the playgrounds. Good times there.

I’ve always wanted to go swimming in that pond at 235 and Seneca. It looks so cool and inviting during the summer. Anyone have any experience with that? Am I going to get shot with a shotgun if I show up there in a wetsuit in May?

Good article, Carly. Marchello’s is awesome. Their vegetarian lasagna is delicious. And can’t beat Seneca Street 2-4-1s on a Tuesday night. Molly makes some tasty Hawaiian Punch drinks. Hmm…today is Tuesday…

Yogi’s bar= Dance-offs with Santa and a car running into the building while Steph sang Wilson Phillips. In other words…YES! Go there!

El Mexico and Taco J’s are very delicious.

Sadly I’ve never had Diane’s or Hong Kong. Adding those to my list of places to try.

I don’t remember a miniature golf place on S. Seneca though. Maybe we should make one now. If we build it, they will come.

Nice work Carly. The secret is officially out. As a fellow southsider, I was always amazed by people who never made it south of Pawnee.

These are some great highlights. A few of my favorites:

1) Yogi’s Bar and Grill
2) El Mexico restaurant
3) Brenneman Liquor – they have a guy that recommends good wine
4) Hong Kong Restaurant – Fong Wong Song Shee is amazing
5) Diane’s – good breakfast
6) Taco J’s
7) Village Flea Market – has to be experienced

Places I wish were still there:

1) Crazy Horse Supper Club
2) Cappie’s Place
3) I swear there was a miniature golf course on Seneca south of 55th when I was growing up.

seneca bowl = my first kiss…our parents were in bowling leagues together…this is also where Jason Hamlin asked me to be his girlfriend in fifth grade. Maybe I should be going back to the good ol bowling alley if i want to find a husband
