[meet] Ask verb: Mmm, Thanksgiving

This week, we asked the verb staff team to tell us about their favorite (and least favorite) Thanksgiving dishes.
My favorite dish is my mother-in-law’s sweet potato casserole. There are no marshmallows or red hots involved and it’s sinfully delicious with some hot and heavy pecans and butter, Paula Deen style. My least favorite dish is anything that contains Jello. There is NEVER room for Jello in my opinion. - Andrea Anglin
I like cranberries, but that gelatinous tube of muck that people try to pass off as cranberry sauce is friggin’ awful. I think it’s a texture thing. Or maybe it’s the fact it looks like something the Jolly Green Giant sneezed out after a nosebleed. – Aimee Brock
I have a deeply rooted hatred of cranberry. And my family always tries to disguise it at Thanksgiving (cranberry salsa, cranberry relish). I gag no matter what form it’s in. – Veronica Hill
I am not a casserole kind of girl. Anything with too many mysterious ingredients will not make its way onto my plate. As for mashed potatoes, well, if that were my entire Thanksgiving meal, I’d probably be OK with that. – Steph Barnard
I cracked a joke about feeding my aunt’s carrot casserole to the dog under the table at Thanksgiving dinner in my high school newspaper probably 8 years ago. It got back to her, and it’s been a running joke ever since. And yes, she still makes that awful carrot casserole. I’m a girl who loves to eat, so it’s hard to narrow it down to one favorite. I’m a fan of green bean casserole and I can never pass the mashed potatoes and gravy, but my grandma’s cheesecake probably tops my list. And she still lets me lick the goop out of the cherry can. – Amanda Mundt
My absolute favorite dish is a sweet potato casserole my mom makes. I’ve tried to re-create it but it’s never as good as hers. It’s mashed-up sweet potatoes baked and topped with corn flakes and nuts that have been covered with butter and brown sugar. My least favorite dish is cranberry sauce. Granted, I’ve never actually tried said dish, I just can’t bring myself to eat it. The jiggling out from the can to the dish and the sitting there in blob form does not appeal to me. – Carly Holmes
Unlike the rest of the verb [ICT] team, I’m a fan of cranberry sauce. But my favorite Thanksgiving foods are stuffing and mashed potatoes. It’s a carb weakness. I could actually pass on the turkey (unless it’s the following day in sandwich form) or the green bean casserole, which I had for the first time last year. Not a fan. Blech. – Shea Sylvia

I didn’t want to go on and on, but I like cranberry sauce too. Even the weird jelly kind that keeps its shape! (But I always just make my own since it’s so ridiculously easy.)
Is it tomorrow yet? I want all this food, now.
Is it bad that my favorite dish is the veggie tray? I’m usually so full on celery and baby carrots that the rest of the meal doesn’t matter much.
Two words: Deviled. Eggs.
I like turkey.
Oh and…
AIN’T NO PARTY LIKE A CARLY DANCE PARTY!
I like cranberries too. My aunt makes them and Steph is right, they are ridiculously easy to make. No need for gelatinous blobs (see above for my hatred of gelatin).
