[wear] Real Men Wear Boots

bootsBoots.

Sweet baby (insert deity here), I’ve been obsessing over boots for about a month now. For years I’ve resisted adding boots to my wardrobe for fear of looking like a cowboy, dock worker, or hip-hopper. Luckily, designers have stepped it up this year and have kicked out some of the most enticing boots for dudes I’ve ever seen.

Red Wing has made a resurgence and somehow gone from hardcore workboot to must have brand. But, never one to follow the trends too closely, I’m hooked on these: The Klipporone from Tretorn.

If a witch turned your duck-billed platapus into a boot, it would probably look exactly like this boot. But man, I can’t stop obsessing about them. They have the crepe sole, d-ring eyelets, and look like they are meant to be worn whilst chopping wood outside your cabin. Since none of us are likely to be chopping wood and I’m probably the only straight guy that knows what a crepe sole is, what you have to ask is “will they look awesome with my jeans and work well in rain or snow.” Which of course, they will.

How do I put the look together? Here you go:

1. APC New Standard Jeans (shop online)
2. Oxford shirt (J. Crew, Brooks Brothers)
3. Tretorn Boots (shop online)
4. Peacoat traditional (shop online)

And if you really want to own it, grow a beard.

What about ankle boots? They were in for awhile, how about now?

The boot is spelled Klipporone. Thanks for the article, just wanted to point it out if people are looking for more info. (a link would help)

Man, an oxford, jeans, boots and a peacoat are my winter UNIFORM. That and this dope cotton fleece shawl neck sweater I got from J Crew. Good stuff.

APC jeans – not sure I can sport those comfortably!!!!!!!!!!!

Trust me on the APCs. I’m starting to think that raw denim is like a tattoo. The first one is painful but then it becomes an addiction and you either don’t feel the pain or you like it. When I pull on my 1 year old APCs I barely remember the painful first month. Right now I’m breaking in a new pair of Pure Blue Japan xx-005 that are awesome. And are literally from Japan. In only a few weeks they have gone from stiff and rough to quite comfortable.

Thanks for the great advice. I look forward to more tips. The boots, pea coat, and oxford all sound/look great. The jeans sound like a pain in the ass. You are hard core.
