The 1st Annual Strong Ale Festival was a huge hit for Wichita's craft beer enthusiasts. This has been a dream of mine for over years. I personally went to 5 "strong ale fests" throughout the United States to get some "on-site" research. The tasting sheet was a great benefit for participants to read about the beers to help them with their choices.

I want to thank everyone who came out for this event. I want to thank Schane for believing in my idea to host this event. She deserves all the cudo's for all her time spent preparing the bar. The staff deserves my gratitude for working so hard preparing the bar for the event and getting the bar back to it's original setting so they could start serving the dinner crowd.

All the pressure is on me to duplicate the list of beers by making it even better next year. We are working on some unique firkin kegs and more bottles that are over 8%. Thanks Verbict!

Not from Wichita but came over from ACGIK.

Sounds like my kind of event. We have a couple fests in KC, but the big one is in a parking lot and includes any half assed brewery that shows up. I started on strong beers when Boulevard introduced their Smokestack series, and while not every beer has been a winner there have been several very good ones.

Tell Quentin I agree that the Schlafly Imperial Bourbon Stout is quite good! I like whiskey aged beers tho, so I could be biased. I enjoy Boulevards Bourbon Barrel Quad, and am looking forward to their rye.

Anyhow, nice review. Keep up the good work putting your liver on the line for us!

If you kept this year's ticket, you are supposed to save money on next year's ticket. FYI for those who attended.

You should be reading our twitter account :) We talked about it on there. You should have a Chad Smith Ale Fest. After all the grief I gave you about coffee beer now that I've actually tried different beers I think I'd probably like the coffee one.
