Nice posting Amy!
The Palace West is one of my favorite date places.
It’s not just the $2.50 ticket price, it is also the concession prices – so much lower than Mr. Warren’s other theaters (BTW – in Wichita is it the-ATE-or or THEE-at-her?)
But I digress – at the Palace, I am able to save enough to be able to pay for a nice meal beforehand – sometimes I even Super-Size it!

I’ve seen only one Cult Classic & it was probably film: “Flashdance”. When it came out, I was too busy to see it, and by the time I had a chance to rent it on VHS (or BetaMax, since that was my folks’ format of preference back in the day) and then DVD, it was hard to justify choosing it over all the independent or foreign films.

So 20 years later, I was excited to finally see it. I went with another 40-something, Amy Labelle. There were technical difficulties, but we acted like they were intermissions & used the time to reminisce about the 80s.

The Palace is nice for parents to take younger children, too. At a certain age kids refuse to go, a sign they’re old enough to earn the big bucks required to go to a fancy theater.

Unfortunately, many of the movies played in the Cult and Timeless series are played from a DVD. DVDs are NOT meant to be played on screens that big, and they look horrible.

Occasionally they will use an actual print of the film (last time I saw one of those was Harold and Maude) and when they do that, it’s magical. There’s no way to know, though, if it’ll be film or DVD without going.
