[drink] Ten Great Coffee Shops with Free WiFi

- Mead’s Corner (430 E Douglas Ave): Home of some of the best lattes in Wichita, Mead’s corner also offers delicious and homemade scones and sandwiches. The atmosphere is cozy and laid-back and you can choose from multiple seating options, most of which are close to electrical outlets. On various nights you can enjoy fun activities such as Espresso Theater and live band performances. Make sure you try the gelato – it’s made in-house!
- Sugar Sisters (4811 E. Central): When your sweet tooth strikes, there’s no better place to satisfy it! Cupcakes, scones, cookies, specialty blended drinks and lattes… Sugar Sisters has something for everyone.
- The Vagabond Café (614 W Douglas Ave): A coffee shop with a smoky bar atmosphere. Think of it as more of a bar that serves coffee, so while it’s a fun hangout, it may not be best for getting work done.
- Bean Scene (8606 W 13th St N): A smoke-free coffee shop where you can catch some great, free live music. In addition to coffee, they also serve ice cream and sandwiches.
- Riverside Perk (1144 N Bitting Ave): This Riverside favorite has a fun, relaxing atmosphere with a non-smoking section available. It’s a great place for a night out with friends or a day working on your laptop, coffee in hand.
- Caffe Posto (4714 E Douglas Ave): With an extensive food and drink menu, this College Hill staple has great lunch specials, gelato, and specialty coffees and teas.
- Daily Grind Coffee House & Café (209 E William St): This off-the-beaten-path shop serves specialty espresso drinks and their own fresh roasted drip coffee. A variety of teas, fruit smoothies and iced blended coffee drinks are also available as well as a wide selection of fresh baked goods.
- Il Primo (6422 E Central Ave): Their chai is delicious, and the coffee and espresso is rich and flavorful. There is a small patio area and plenty of seating inside.
- Riverside Cup of Tea (1617 Briggs St): This is actually a quaint, semi-fancy restaurant with great coffee and tea and delectable food choices such as homemade quiche and potato soup. The inside is all frills and lace with nice china around in hutches and on shelves.
- Zoomdweebie’s (3010 E. Central): While it is a tea bar (boasting over 200 teas to try), Zoomdweebie’s deserves a mention here because of the delicious food and drink selections, and the friendly atmosphere. They’re only open on Tuesdays, so plan accordingly.

Unless it’s changed since I was there last, The Bean Scene isn’t quite a smoke-free coffee shop, as it’s also a hookah bar. To be fair, though, hookah smoke doesn’t linger or smell bad, so I guess it’s somewhere in the middle.
Also, the Perk has a smoking section? I did not know that.
The Perk used to have a smoking section. It still smells a bit smoky though, even though it’s been smoke-free for about a year.
I wasn’t impressed with Sugar Sisters over-priced cupcakes. Way too much icing (stacked about an inch high, and the cupcake was very dry. Service was also lacking the day we went.
