[drink] Boozing It Up On The Cheap

Times are tough and money is tight. While we’ve all heard that the economy is slowly turning around, it’s going to be a while before things get much better. Translation: keep saving money when you can. But just because you’re being frugal doesn’t mean entertainment and good times with friends have to go out the window. In fact, if booze is your forte, there are still plenty of options for those who want to have a drink (or several) on the cheap.
- If you’re looking for something to do during the week, Mort’s Cigar Bar offers a 2-for-1 special on all martinis every Monday evening.
- Having friends over for a few drinks is also an inexpensive way to entertain. A bottle of vodka and a couple bottles of soda or juice are often much cheaper than buying three or four poorly made drinks at the bar.
- On Tuesdays, El Rodeo offers diners $1 margaritas. They aren’t small and they’re delicious!
- Going out on the weekends can be costly if you aren’t careful. For bargain hunters, Emerson Biggins offers 2-for-1’s on Saturday nights.
- Inexpensive wine is also a good way to go. Decent bargain brands run about $10 per bottle and are quite tasty.
- Looking to save money? Avoid the high-dollar liquors. While well drinks aren’t the best quality, they are the most affordable.
- Stick to less-pricey beers. While you may not be able to splurge on microbrews like Boulevard Wheat, that doesn’t mean Pabst Blue Ribbon is your only choice. Instead, try to stay within a Corona budget.
- While I don’t suggest getting completely sauced, a shot or two might help take the edge off of a long work week.
- As a last resort, a flask filled with your favorite libation is always a good way to bring a little extra joy anywhere you go.
